What are mornings like in your house - chaotic, stressful, frantic and noisy? I bet it is all of these things if you have a couple of kids to get ready for school before dashing off to your own nine to five. Wouldn't be great to be able to get out of bed, get the children off to school and then work at home, instead of the usual crazy commute. Well, guess what - with careful planning you could work at home and be your own boss and timekeeper. There would be no-one to tell you what time to arrive or what time to go home; no-one to tell you when you can take a break etc. It would all be up to you!
In order to be a successful work at home mom you will need to be just as organized as you were when you had to go out to work. If your work at home job is internet based you will need a place to work - the kitchen table is usually the place most of us find easiest. Working in your kitchen is great if you have a toddler because you can still keep an eye on him whilst you do some work.
A good idea would be to have a set time during the day or evening that is 'work' time. I work best in the early mornings and late evening so I have two hours between 9am and 11am that is my work time and again at 9pm to 11pm. But you have to be disciplined in order to do the best job you can in the shortest time possible. You shouldn't put off your work to do the ironing or to watch a TV program - you will find yourself getting stressed if you get behind in your work.
There are tons of online opportunities for work at home moms, so spend some time browsing and checking out what there is available. Use Google to search for jobs that pay you whilst you work from home. There are lots of websites that will point you in the right direction. If the first thing you try doesn't make you any money within a month or so - move on to the next. Eventually you will find the perfect way to make that extra cash.
Whatever you choose to do to enable you to work at home, make it something that you enjoy doing. You'll be surprised at how quickly the time passes if you are enjoying your work. It may take a few months or so to get yourself established doing whatever it is that you've chosen to do; but after that you should begin to see some great returns for your efforts.
